Caffeine and weight loss; Debunking popular myths

Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing author, researcher and Naturopath Dr Jeffry Weiss abnout his proven theories with regards to metabolism, caffeine and weight loss. Were I to say that the interview was fascinating would be an understatement. Where many people expound upon their theories in this realm, Jeffry has not only researched this subject extensively over several decades, he has also put it into practice clinically with very impressive results.

In his book; THE CAFFEINE DIET: SIPPING YOUR WAY TO SLIM, Jeffry has sought to explain in great detail why it is nigh on impossible to effectively lose weight on a conventional diet. The reasons for this are as follows: Basically when you begin to lose weight, the body thinks you are starving and subsequently slows your metabolism. Jeffry explains that were we to try to lose weight with only dietary means, we would have to reduce caloric intake to somewhere around 800 calories a day or less, rendering it very hard for us to obtain all necessary vitamins and minerals. This would affect many essential processes in our body and swiftly become detrimental to our health. Even the strongest of dieters would start developing cravings that would soon sabotage their most noble dieting efforts.

A profound question thus arises: How can we increase metabolism and thus not have to suffer draconian dietary restriction that ultimately sabotages us. Increased metabolism makes it possible for us to burn calories more effectively and also leaves us with a more consistent energy level. Low metabolism is not confined to a handful of people. Back in the 50′s about 10% of our population were dealing with this challenge. Experts like Dr Weiss and others conservatively estimate that those percentages have dramatically shifted and that we currently can count on at least 50% of the population suffering from low metabolism. When we become more aware of this we find it hardly surprising that obesity rates are skyrocketing. So what is the culprit, one might ask. The answer lies to a large extent in our water supply and it is fluoride. Fluoride competes with iodine in the thyroid gland, the gland responsible for maintaining optimal metabolism. With our diets low in iodine and high exposure to fluoride, it becomes increasingly difficult for us to maintain a healthy metabolism. Even as little as 1 part per million of fluoride inhibits DNA repair activity by as much as 50% and in animal studies such a level has shown demonstrable chromosome damage.  Moreover the forms of fluoride used in municipal water supplies; sodium fluoride and aluminum fluoride are hard to remove from the body and have numerous detrimental effects from poor thyroid function, brain related disorders such as Alzheimers and others. Good water filtration is essential, and although few systems offer effective removal of fluoride from water there are a few that do. One that I have experience with is the Berkey Water filters which have an add on component called a PF-2 filter that will remove fluoride and arsenic up to 99%.   This is essential if you are serious about reestablishing a healthy metabolism, as is the use of a fluoride free toothpaste. Most health food stores offer them but not all of their toothpastes are fluoride free.  Other chemicals such as chlorine and PCB’s affect thyroid function and happily these can all be removed from your water with the use of Berkey Water filters .

Knowing now how important the thyroid gland is in metabolism and maintaining a healthy weight, one might ask how else we can improve thyroid function. Mainstream allopathic medicine prescribes synthetic thyroid to basically do the thyroid’s work for it. The drugs commonly prescribed are a one size fits all approach that is not effective in  restoring a healthy metabolism.

Dr Weiss’s research and from the patients he has seen in the last 20 years, it is clear that the thyroid gland is sensitive to a variety of influences; dietary, lifestyle, and environment. Basically if we eat more toxic foods and are increasingly more exposed to pollution, petrochemical and industrial wastes, and heavy metals thyroid problems will continue to be a major problem in our society. The facts show that around 80% of women and men in the United States have thyroid issues. So what of other factors play a role in weight loss?

Exercise, calorie reduction, boosting metabolic rate and promoting fat burning. We have seen that calorie reduction does not work effectively. Exercise does help a great deal but to boost metabolism and reduce weight we need to increase our metabolism more consistently than just during a workout. This is where caffeine comes in. If you drink the equivalent of 100mg of caffeine, about 1/3 of a cup of coffee just before you eat will help reduce cravings, help you eat less and burn more calories.  Try a healthier coffee called Nutricafe and you will eliminate jitters plus get additional benefits too.

Happiness and health are the two major factors of an abundant life. Abundance can not be achieved from material things and other earthly possessions only but also from the people around you who support you and give you all the reasons to be happy in life.

Anyone can attract abundance by changing their lives and how they approach life. There may be some people who are experiencing abundance now and that is because they are positive in life and that they pursued achieving abundance. This happens because they worked hard for it and it is not just an accidental effect of a situation.

You can use whatever you have now to make your life abundant.

Start with being grateful for what you already have

Everyone can have an abundant life. If you want to start attracting abundance now in your life, start by being grateful of the things and the people you already have right now. Even if you are in such a situation wherein being grateful is the least thing you can do due to the difficulties you are facing now. Instead of thinking why others posses the best things in life while you are suffering from so much hardship, be grateful still, and eventually you will realize that you still have some things to be thankful for.

One way to build a gratitude consciousness is to keep a gratitude journal. Before going to sleep at night, make a list of things that happened during the day that you can be grateful for. It can be helpful to have a minimum number of things you have to list before you can go to bed. For example, if you have decided to list five things you are thankful for every night before you go to sleep you will focus your attention on looking for them. Oftentimes, these things will seem minor to others but they are things that you appreciate.

It is also important to consider your emotional condition when you aim to live an abundant life. Your positive feelings and habitual emotions can pull the abundance into your life. The people who support you and encourage you to feel good despite the untoward incidences in life are important as well. If you will remain to feel negative feelings, you will only attract more similar negative events into your life, rather than abundance.

What you feel and what you think are the things that affect you and your personal being. If you think negative and you feel bad, you will tend to experience bad incidences as well. In order to attract abundance into your life, think right and feel right. Guard your emotions so as you will disregard negative feelings and guard your mind from thinking bad things against others so that it will not lead you to do wrong.

“Change yourself for the better even if you find it hard to do. In the end you will get the benefits and experience abundance.”

Everyone can have an abundant life. Yes, even YOU and it can start right NOW!

There are various approaches to accomplishing this and different people will benefit from different methods. In fact, most people will need to use a combination of approaches to change their lives. However, the effort is well worth it. By establishing new beliefs along with mental and emotional habits, individuals can begin to attract new opportunities into their lives which resonate with their new selves.

These are some of the tools that people can use to bring changes into their lives. The self-hypnosis, hypnosis, affirmations, applied kinesiology, neuro-linguistic programming, and BSFF (Be Set Free Fast) are proven to be effective in helping people as they enhance the health of their mental and emotional condition.

Is it time for a change?

Change is a process and the results are progressive. As a person changes, their life will also change. A thankful and optimistic person will attract abundance far more easily than someone who is struggling with negative emotions. These changes won’t happen overnight, however, so it’s important to be prepared to stay the course until abundance comes.

As well as making the changes necessary to allow abundance to easily flow into their lives, people also need to be in a position to take hold of opportunities. In other words, preparation must meet opportunity. So, as well as changing on the inside, it’s important for people to take steps to gain the skills and education that will enable them to recognize and grab hold of new and better opportunities.

Let go of the past and envision and different future

Life may have been hard for you, but now that you are starting the first steps of getting the abundance vibe, soon enough you will realize that abundance has also entered your life. Just be positive in your thoughts and beliefs and never forget to appreciate the things you possess now, whether great or small.

I don’t know why everyone on this planet is not aware of the incredible story of the Appleton alternative school, you know the kind where the ‘bad’ kids with behavioral problems are sent.

Well, faces with an impossible disciplinary situation they jumped to a radical approach, although I will never know why choosing to feed your kids good wholesome untainted foods is radical, by instituting a school lunch/food program that was based on fresh, healthy organic, non GMO foods.  Don’t believe me click here.
